Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. She co-founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran was a participant in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. She has been involved in 53 deals since February, 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will provide 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved from one job to the next throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran struggled at school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic elementary school in her area and began the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
