Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected as the city's district attorney. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for health reform, federal descholaring for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens and the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. National attention was gained for her shrewd questioning of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual abuse.
